Interview With Ultimate Guitar

Steven Adler has finally found it. WithAdler, his new self-named band, the former Guns N’ Roses drummer has surrounded himself with a group of musicians who not only understand the delicate art of songwriting and composition but who have viselike grips on playing guitars in the modern world of rock. Singer/guitarist Jacob Bunton, guitaristLonny Paul and bassist Johnny Martin bring the fire on "The One That You Hated," the first song released from the upcoming album. The song has melody, drama, stinging guitar riffs and a stunning solo by Bunton. Produced by Jeff Pilson — who also played bass — the album [still untitled at this date] is due out sometime in the next several months.

Review From Horror Site "Bloody Disgusting"

Adler – “The One That You Hated
Steven Adler is known for being the former drummer for Guns N’ Roses, as well as for his two stints on Celebrity Rehab. But now he hopes to be known for his brand new band, “Adler”. The band features Steven on drums, Johnny Martin on bass, former Lynam frontman Jacob Bunton on vocal duties, and finally guitarist Lonny Paul. The band has released the first single from their upcoming album, and boy is it a throwback to the 80s. The song features strong verses and a larger than life chorus, that is much more Reminiscent of Def Leppard than Guns N’ Roses. It’s extremely catchy as well, so don’t go in expecting to listen to it just once, as the constant stream of the song’s chorus in your head will practically force you to hit the play button at least a half a dozen more times. So, needless to say, it’s an expertly crafted tune, but what really makes it stand out is the fact that it is able to cater to more than one audience. And to top it all off, it’s able to it so effortlessly. See, it may be a throwback to the 80s, but it also has modern sensibilities, that the majority of the bands that are still around from that era are sorely lacking. It might have to do with the fact that Adler himself is the only band member who was making music back then, and the rest of the band is a lot younger, but whatever the case may be, it’s a match made in rock and roll heaven.

Rolling Stone Premiers "The One That You Hated" Video

In the video for "The One That You Hated," former Guns N' Roses drummer Steven Adler takes on destructive relationships with his new band. "The lyrics are about two people that are no good for each other, but for whatever reason won't break up," says frontman Jacob Bunton. "Maybe it's the sex, maybe it's the convenience, maybe they're just scared to move on and start over, but a lot of people seem to be attracted to the people that they hate. Love and hate are intimately linked within the human brain."
Although it's an early Adler track, "Hated" was one of the last songs the band recorded for their album. "One night Slash was at the studio and we played him a couple of the songs," reveals Bunton. "When this song started playing, he was grinning ear to ear, so we knew either it's a kick-ass song or it's so bad we're making him laugh."
For Adler, the new project is an invigoration, a fresh breath of creativity. "I love the music we're creating!" he says. "I haven't been this excited about my band since the GN'R days." "Hated" is the first single off the band's debut album, Adler. No release date has been set.

Screamer Magazine Interview

Rock and Roll…the history, the people, the personal stories and the music made by only those who walk where angels fear to tread. When you think of great songs; the songs that make you stand still and the hair on the back of your neck rise; those songs…who do you think of? Many of us would agree, especially when we hear that certain riff and that drum beat, where we were when we first heard,Sweet Child O Mine.

Rock Nightmare Interview With Jacob

RN: What’s up?
Jacob Bunton: I’m in the studio right now. I have been doing the Adler thing it just needs to be mixed and mastered and then well see what happens.
RN: Since the Adler line up was announced, the rumor among some “Lynam” fans is that you are leaving the band. I see David posting every once in a while saying “Jacob is still in Lynam” yet some people don’t seem to get it. I just wanted to clear up any rumors there might be concerning “Lynam“.
Jacob Bunton: We are best friends. “Lynam” will always be a band even if we take breaks and do other things. Like we said a year and a half ago when we released the last record “Thank You Goodnight” “Lynam” is not breaking up. That was just going to be the last thing we record for a while because we all want to concentrate on other things. So we are not breaking up. We are still playing gigs but we just want to explore other things as well.

Rolling Stone Interview

By Andy Greene
April 23, 2012 11:35 AM ET
When we spoke to former Guns N' Roses drummer Steven Adler in December he was still hoping that Axl Rose would come to his senses and agree to perform with the group at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony. "I know there's love between all five of us," he said. "I know there is. Not just four of us, five of us. We owe it to the fans. The LEAST we can do is give them one great performance."

Needless to say, the full reunion didn't happen – and in a new interview with Rolling Stone, Adler says that he's finally given up hopes for a reunion and wants to move on with his life. He has a new group called Adler and they are releasing their debut LP and hitting the road this year. "The world needs a new rock and roll band," he says. "And we’re just the guys to do it. It’s the greatest way to start a new chapter in my life."

Singled Out: Adler's "The One That You Hated"

Original Guns N' Roses drummer Steven Adler is back with a new band called Adler and today they are releasing their first single, "The One That You Hated." To celebrate we asked frontman Jacob Bunton to tell us about it:
This was actually one of the first songs that Lonny and I co-wrote together. I had the music and verses laying around for a while, but couldn't quite nail the chorus. One day we were sitting in Lonny's office and I played him the song in it's original form. When I got to the chorus, Lonny started singing "I'm the one that you hated / the one you didn't want to believe. I thought it was great! We immediately finished the song, recorded a demo, and took it to Steven. Lonny and I have a great chemistry together, so it just flowed naturally.

The lyrics are about two people that are no good for each other, but for whatever reason won't break up. I've seen it a million times over the years. Maybe it's the sex, maybe it's the convenience, maybe they're just scared to move on and start over, but a lot of people seem to be attracted to the people that they hate. Love and hate are intimately linked within the human brain.

This was one of the last songs that we recorded for the album even though we wrote it early on. One night Slash was at the studio and we played him a couple of the songs. When this song started playing, he was grinning ear to ear, so we knew either it's a kick ass song or it's so bad we're making him laugh. A few days later John 5 from Rob Zombie's band came to the studio and listened to some songs. He had the same reaction and stopped us after the first chorus and said "That's It! That's your first single!"

Adler's First Ever Live Performance -- Exclusive AOL Video

Noisecreep had the good fortune to be in the room - a living room actually - when the band Adler (Ex-Guns N' Roses drummer Steven Adler, bassist Johnny Martin, ex-Lynam vocalist Jacob Bunton, and Adler's Appetite guitarist Lonny Paul) played their first ever performance as a four piece band.

The song, a beautiful ballad called "Waterfall,' is a good example of how much this new band values melody, and how far they are capable of stretching from raw, straight ahead rock 'n' roll to something more lush and introspective.

Adler ran through tune several times, and what you're seeing here is a band poised for great things.

Adler, ‘The One That You Hated’ – Song Review

Adler — the namesake group of former Guns N’ Rosesdrummer Steven Adler — will issue their first single, ‘The One That You Hated,’ on iTunes on April 10.
The song title indicates Adler has certainly experienced his fair share of love and hate relationships, but make no mistake about it — he loves being a part of this trio and is thrilled about the new single.
The song is now streaming on Revolver and as wepreviously reported, Adler himself hasn’t been this excited since the GnR days.
“Jacob (Bunton) is exactly the singer I have been searching for,” Steven said. “He has an amazing range and is a great writer and frontman. Lonny (Paul) is an amazing guitarist and songwriter and the vibe is amazing.”
The song opens up with a repeated chugging of a rhythm guitar before vocalist Bunton shares some words of wisdom. “Baby I’m too young to know any better but I guess I’m just too old to care, I’m waiting on the morning light to clear the air” he sings before the song picks up its momentum.
The rhythm continues throughout and is strongly complimented by Adler’s drumming and some perfectly timed backing vocals followed by a grandiose guitar solo. No joke — Adler could have a serious hit on their hands with this one.
The single’s length clocks in at around three minutes, just long enough to keep you interested but short enough to keep you hungry for more. This is a strong debut and surprisingly catchy, so given the right exposure, this song could turn even the biggest haters into full-fledged fans.

FORMER GUNS N’ ROSES DRUMMER STEVEN ADLER UNVEILS NEW BAND

Loudwire.com

We already knew that Slash was working on a song with ex-Guns N’ Roses drummer Steven Adler, since he tweeted about the collaboration the other night. Now, full details about Adler’s new project have surfaced. The skins smasher’s new project is simply named Adler and the power trio features the drummer alongside singer Jacob Bunton (Lynam, Mars Electric) and guitarist Lonny Paul (Adler’s Appetite).
“I love the music that we’re creating!” Adler exclaimed in a press release. He was incredibly stoked about his bandmates, saying, “I haven’t been this excited about my band since the GN’R days. Jacob is exactly the singer I have been searching for. He has an amazing range and is a great writer and frontman. Lonny is an amazing guitarist and songwriter and the vibe is amazing!”
Adler (both the stickman and the band) are holed up in a Los Angeles studio as we speak, cranking out their debut. Adler shared photos from the studio via Facebook and revealed that fans can follow the progress of the album since they will regularly post updates. So you will be able to get a bird’s eye view into the process.
Slash once again tweeted about working with Adler, posting a message about the particular song he worked on last night — saying the “track is great.” We can’t wait to hear it, and again, we would be lying if we didn’t say that we hope discussions about a performance at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, set for next month, ensued. Just sayin’.
